The Zenn electric car is a Canadian NEV in production since 2006. The last Zenn was made in 2010. It appears that Zenn made a good attempt to increase sales by offering their 2009 Zenn Car for $9,995. That was quite a deal in the EV world. Too bad more were not sold.
The Zenn Hatchback is a typical NEV sporting a 72 volt power system driving a 6 kWh (8 hp) electric motor. The range is stated at 40 miles. The Zenn is actually as good looking a rig as any small SUV.
Reviews for the Zenn are pretty good, with the main detractor being the slow speed…that’s pretty much what you get driving one ton around with a 72 volt system and 8 hp. Actually, you can modify the Zenn to hit 35 mph…at some expense to the range however.
For now, Zenn has hitched its wagon to the EEStar…oops…EEStor we should say. Zenn has invested heavily in the planned but never seen revolutionary ultracapacitor technology. Like everybody else, we can't wait.
