eBike Levels
Entry Level EBikes
We call entry level eBikes those priced under $800 USD. These bikes are mostly 24 volt, lead acid battery pack bikes. They can be well built, and last with proper care, but tend to use lower quality components.
These bikes tend to weigh a bit more with lower quality frame build. Range tends to be in the 15-20 miles with top end speeds under 20 mph.
Mid Level eBikes
The mid level eBike is priced over $800, but under $1,500 USD. The bikes in this category may use a 36 volt power system, and Li-Ion battery pack, mostly under 10 amp hours. Some of these bikes are quite reliable. Most use mid level components and are reliable for medium use.
These bikes tend to feature lighter well built frames. Range tends to be in the 20-30 miles with top end speeds of 20 mph or more.
Top end eBikes
Top end eBikes on the list are those priced over $1,500 USD on up. These bikes use top quality components and feature top frame and electrical quality. 36 volt or higher systems and Li-Ion battery packs up to 20 amp hours are common. Note however, that not all of these bikes are without their problems.
The top end eBikes are however built to last with warranties and service to match. These bikes tend to be very well built alloy. Range is increased to as much as 40-50 miles with top end speeds up to 50 mph.
